Proclamation of Friendship between Calne and Caln Township

As our friends in Caln Township, Pennsylvania, celebrate the 250th anniversary of American Independence today, we send our best wishes from Calne.

Our twinning link is a reminder of the lasting friendships that can be built across oceans and generations. We are delighted to mark this historic occasion alongside our twinned community, and wish everyone in Caln Township a wonderful celebration. Many thanks to our fantastic Town Crier, Mark Wylie, whose unmistakable voice and presence gave real weight to this proclamation. Thanks to Romilly at Calne Town Council for additional photography.

Oyez, Oyez, Oyez!

Let it be known that in this year of 2026, as the United States marks its great Semi quincentennial, the Town of Calne sends warm congratulations across the ocean to our friends in Caln Township, Pennsylvania.

Though an ocean divides us, we are united in name, in spirit, and in our shared devotion to community, service, and liberty.

Today we celebrate the friendship between our two towns and reaffirm our commitment to goodwill, respect, and cultural exchange.

May this bond endure, honouring our shared past and embracing a future of kindness and partnership.

God bless Calne, and God bless Caln. And God save the King.
